Dr. James A. Simon is Clinical Professor of Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility, in the department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at George Washington University, and maintains an active clinical and research practice in Washington, D.C. (IntimMedicine Specialists; www.IntimMedicine.com). A past President of the North American Menopause Society (NAMS), and the Washington Gynecological Society, Dr. Simon is currently President of the International Society for the Study of Women’s Sexual Health (ISSWSH). Dr. Simon has demonstrated a strong, career-long commitment to the prevention of disease and advancing women’s health, serving on the Boards of Trustees/Directors of the ISCD (skeletal health), the ASBD (breast health), NAMS (menopausal health), and ISSWSH (sexual health).
Dr. Simon’s research has been supported by more than 365 research grants and scholarships from a wide range of sponsors, including The NIH, The American Heart Association, The Heinz Foundation, and the pharmaceutical industry. Dr. Simon has participated as a clinical investigator on most of the recently FDA approved medical therapeutics in women’s health. To name just a few, Dr. Simon most recently served as a principal investigator on the development of flibanserin (Addyi®) for female sexual desire, ospemifene (Osphena®) for dyspareunia, prasterone (Intrarosa®) for dyspareunia, and on the SCALE Trial leading to the approval of Saxenda® for weight loss.
A short-list of Dr. Simon’s honors and achievements includes being selected to “Top Washington Physicians,” “America’s Top Obstetricians and Gynecologists,” “Super Doctors of Washington DC-Baltimore-Northern Virginia,” “Doctor’s Choice” awardee for Washington, DC, and “The Best Doctors in America.” Dr. Simon is a recipient of the Leon Speroff Outstanding Educator Award. He is an author or co-author on more than 560 articles, abstracts, chapters and proceedings, including several prize-winning papers. Dr. Simon is co-author of the paperback book: Restore Yourself: A Woman’s Guide to Reviving Her Sexual Desire and Passion for Life.
